Why does the book include a UV lamp?

You will get the best immersive experience with our UV lamp. It quickly charges the ink, making it glow instantly and revealing hidden secrets in seconds

Is the magic ink or UV light safe for children?

Yes, the AAA-powered UV torch included with the book uses UV LED diodes at 395nm and has a CE certificate, ensuring it meets European safety standards.

Like with any LED torch, direct eye contact should be avoided. The 395nm wavelength falls within the longwave UV-A spectrum, which is commonly used in blacklight lamps and is considered safe for everyday use. Unlike stronger UV-B or UV-C rays, which are used for disinfection or tanning, UV-A light at this level does not pose a health risk when used responsibly.

The magic inks are safe to touch, but we strongly advise against licking the pages or eating the book—even though the story is truly gripping!

What age is RUNED suitable for?

The RUNED series is aimed at children/young adults aged 10 to 12. It contains exciting and spooky elements, as well as youth language with occasional mild expletives that feel authentic for this age group. However, the story is a full-fledged fantasy novel that captivates adult readers as well.

Age recommendations for books are voluntary and comparable to movie age ratings. For example, films like Star Wars, Spider-Man, The Lord of the Rings, The Chronicles of Narnia, Percy Jackson, or Indiana Jones are rated 12 and up. Similarly, Harry Potter has an age recommendation of 6+ or 12+, depending on the book.

How do the magical inks in RUNED work?

The three magic inks in the RUNED universe react differently depending on light and temperature.

Heat-Sensitive Ink
This ink disappears at temperatures above 29°C (84°F) and reappears when it cools down.

In hot summer months, the ink may not return until the temperature drops.
In winter, the ink needs to reach at least 29°C (84°F) before it vanishes.
If your fingers are too cold, the ink won't react to touch. Instead, try using a heater or a hairdryer from a safe distance with parental supervision.
Warning: Never heat book pages with an open flame, as this poses a fire hazard.

The Two UV Inks
Ink A → Glows in the dark after being charged with the UV lamp.
Ink B → Only visible under direct UV light but does not glow afterward.
If the inks do not react as expected, check the light conditions and temperature.
